Press Release Menarini L'Aquila

Sixty-seven (67) million units produced last year* compared to 62 million manufactured* before the earthquake.

A record number for the Menarini L' Aquila production site.
In fact, after the April 6th, 2009 earthquake, that hit both the city and the production site, the L’Aquila production plant has reached its highest production level ever since its opening in 1993.
Such an accomplishment has been made possible thanks to a special synergy between the steadfast will of the plant’s employees, and their determination to start up again after the tragic events of 2009, and the strong confidence that the company has placed in the L'Aquila production site, confirmed by the substantial investments made during the months following the earthquake and, more recently, a further investment of 2 million Euro for process equipment, which has brought, and will bring in future, a boost to production.

"SWe are proud to have continued investing in the territory of L'Aquila, in which we strongly believe. The city and its inhabitants have shown the world what it means to be resolute and muster up the will to start over, and we are proud of the fact that, thanks to this spirit, we have been able to increase our production capacity, reaching goals of the highest quality and of the highest international standards"
commented Carlo Colombini, General Manager of Manufacturing for the Menarini Group.

"The municipal administration" - declared Mayor of L’Aquila, Massimo Cialente - wishes to express its deep satisfaction at the significant results achieved by the Menarini L’Aquila plant, a site which is increasingly recognised as a centre of excellence on a national level. The company, which plays a major role in the pharmaceutical sector, has decided to make significant investments in the L'Aquila site, thus providing a decisive contribution towards the rebuilding of the capital city of the Abruzzo region after the tragic earthquake of 6th April, 2009. The company has indeed demonstrated its desire to not only re-establish the production level accomplished before the earthquake, but to increase it even further. This has been an important gesture made by the Menarini Group and one which has allowed us, the L’Aquila community, and its economy, both of which have been tried by recent events, to look to the future with renewed confidence."
