How can you ensure that a video on preventive healthcare gets viewed thousands of times by the community at large, including young people? By handing the topic over to celebrities and bloggers. This was the approach chosen by Menarini Turkey in its One Doctor One Influencer project, a series of video interviews posted on YouTube and shared on social media to discuss health and preventive healthcare with broad swathes of the population. The role of interviewer was performed not by any journalist, but by famous cinema, TV and football stars who were given the opportunity to ask the questions for once. For instance, beloved Turkish actor Hakan Hatipoğlu met with an expert on cardiology to talk about the risks of high blood pressure, for a start. Meanwhile, Pascal Nouma, a French former striker and star of the Beşiktaş football team (Istanbul), also an actor since 2005, spoke to a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology to clear up all sorts of confusion regarding sporting injuries. Finally, TV and cinema star Akasya Asıltürkmen learned all about irritable bowel syndrome from a gastroenterologist. The initiative aims to spread the message that healthcare and medicine are issues which should concern us all, not just the experts.
