COVID-19: Menarini continues with further donations and reaches a record production of 100 tonnes of disinfectant gel

Florence, Italy 25th April, 2020 - Menarini continues its efforts to help those in the front line of the battle against COVID-19. After having repurposed part of its Florentine production plant to the manufacture of sanitising gel to donate to the Italian National Civil Protection Department, in just a few weeks, Menarini has increased its production of gel from 20 to 100 tonnes per month.

During the next phase of the pandemic, disinfectant gel will become indispensable in avoiding contagion and, thanks to the efforts of the technicians in upscaling the plant’s production lines, Menarini will be able to donate a substantial quantity of disinfectant gel, thus satisfying requests for ever-increasing amounts.

To guarantee the safety of healthcare workers, Menarini has also donated 700,000 face masks (400,000 of the N95/ FFP2 type and 300,000 surgical masks) to the Federation and Scientific Societies of General Medicine, in order to allow a fair and widespread distribution throughout the Italian territory. In addition to this, Menarini has also donated more than 20,000 pieces of Personal Protection Equipment including coveralls, protective gloves, face-shields and goggles, as well as an ultrasound scanner, lung ventilators and significant contributions to support hospitals and healthcare facilities being put to the test by COVID-19, enhancing the knowledge of healthcare professionals and fostering the exchange of information and experience on the care given on the wards.

A prolonged use of Personal Protection Equipment can irritate the skin of both hands and face and for this reason Relife, a Menarini Group company, has chosen to donate 10,500 boxes of DermoRelizema cream, containing a total of 150,000 tubes, to healthcare workers who may use it to help maintain, or restore, their physiological skin barrier.

“At such a difficult time for both Italy and the entire world, the Menarini Group is doing its part by continuing its commitment to patient health. Through these donations we would like to express our gratitude to all those who, by doing their jobs every single day, are contributing towards saving lives“, commented Valeria Speroni Cardi, Director of Menarini Corporate Press & Media Relations.
