Cav. Alberto Sergio Aleotti has passed away

It is with deep regret that the Menarini Group hereby announces the passing away of Dr. Alberto Sergio Aleotti.

In Menarini since 1964, Dr. Aleotti had only recently handed over the management of the Group to his children, Lucia, Chairman, and Alberto Giovanni, Vice Chairman.

Dr. Alberto Sergio Aleotti 

  • He was born on 4 March 1923 in Quattro Castella (Reggio Emilia)
  • On 6 November 1946 he was awarded a BSc Degree in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Bologna.
  • In 1964 he joined Menarini as General Manager.
  • In the 1970s he became President of Farmunione, the Italian association of small and medium enterprises.
  • From 1978 to 1986 he held office as President of Farmindustria.
  • In 1978 he was appointed Knight of Labour by the then President of the Republic, Sandro Pertini.
  • In 1986 he was summoned to act as Vice President of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
  • From 1986 to 1990 he held office as President of the EFPIA.
  • From 1990 to 1992 he was appointed Vice President of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA).
  • From 1992 to 1994 he held office as President of the IFPMA.
  • On 5 November 2004 he was awarded an Honorary Degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology from the Faculty of Pharmacology at the University of Genoa.
  • In 2005, on the recommendation of the Federal Chancellor, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded him the Grosses Verdienstkreuz (Cross for Merit) for the economic and social contribution made to Germany through the reorganisation of Berlin-Chemie, purchased by Menarini in 1992.
  • In 2007 he received the Ernst & Young “Best Entrepreneur of the Year” Award in the Global category.
