Responsibility

A bag of rice to help the visually impaired

Being blind is more than not just being able to see. It often also means needing constant outside support, not having access to work and being without an income. In many countries, the associations that provide aid to the visually impaired play an essential part in their livelihood.

One such association is the Taiwan Foundation for the Blind, founded in 1991. To raise funds to support it, Menarini Taiwan purchased a kit consisting of a bag containing two types of rice which forms a very common part of the national diet. The bags were distributed to all the employees in exchange for a donation whose proceeds were used to finance the foundation’s activities. Everyone was, therefore, able to make their own small but important contribution in a sign of solidarity.
