Closure of the production site near Lodi has been avoided and a future has been guaranteed for the workers: an investment of 10 million euro is planned for the development and relaunch of the facility, which represents Italian excellence in fine chemicals. It will be complementary to the Menarini plants of Pisa and Lomagna, and will serve to produce high-quality active ingredients destined for strategic products.

Florence, 23 May 2016 Menarini continues to believe and invest in Italia and just two months after the creation of VaxYnethic, a joint venture with BiosYnth, an Italian company that is a pioneer in the field of biopharmaceutical production, today it has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Lodichem (formerly Euticals) facility in Casaletto Lodigiano, a small Italian jewelin the production of pharmaceutical active ingredients. The plant, capable of producing active and intermediate ingredients, will work in synergy alongside the other Menarini chemical plants situated in Pisa and Lomagna, and will be expanded and improved thanks to an investment of 10 million euro.

The project involves the construction of a new building for offices and quality-control laboratories, as well the refurbishing of numerous systems.

"We believe strongly in this acquisition, confirming our obsessive attention to the quality of medicines. Italy has a great tradition in this sense, recognised worldwide, and at Menarini we are always proud when we manage to carry out the entire production process of a medicine in our own country. In addition, this acquisition makes it possible to save and develop a facility which otherwise was destined to close. At the same time, it represents a great opportunity for growth, with a view to promoting and relaunching examples of excellence at the regional level, recognising Italian chemistry as a strategic and leading sector for our Group" said Lucia Aleotti and Alberto Giovanni Aleotti, Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of Menarini.
