in the Central and Eastern European countries where it is among the major international pharmaceutical groups, particularly in the Baltic countries, Russia and the other countries of the ex-Soviet Union
in Central America where it ranks fifth
in the main developing countries such as India (from 1995), Vietnam (from 1994), People's Republic of China and Korea
in South Africa

In 1978 the drug patent law was approved in Italy therefore making it possible to invest in research with profit. This marked the beginning of Menarini’s industrial expansion.

Menarini began to heavily invest in new drug Research & Development. From its 11 R&D employees in 1978, the company now has 800 R&D employees.

The Menarini Group’s research activity is focussed soley on, Menarini Research, where R&D projects are followed in all of their phases, from new drug discovery to registration.
